I am extremely excited about the overall goal of iFoundry: curriculum change. Along with engineering, one of my passions is BIOLOGY, particularly ECOLOGY. One of my goals for my involvement in iFoundry is to enlighten the engineering community on just how much it can learn from all aspects of biological systems. I would especially like to see a biology component added to the required coursework for ALL engineers.
Personally, I plan to pursue a unique future that merges my studies of biology and engineering to solve today’s environmental problems. I believe that the best way to live in harmony with the natural world is to simply do as the natural world itself does. New ideas are needed to solve the energy problems that plague the world today, and I believe that these ideas can be found in the many natural systems and complex organisms found around the world. By adopting a major in both of these fields, I will learn how to truly emulate these ideas. I will first learn how to examine the secrets of the natural world for ideas and inspiration in my biological studies. Then, through my engineering education, I will learn how to adapt these ideas into useful, viable solutions to the world’s environmental problems. The world’s energy crisis is no match for nature’s greatest engineers. By examining and mimicking our world’s natural engineers, I can help save the environment and its inhabitants.
I truly hope to share my philosophy with my fellow engineers and think iFoundry is the perfect place for this to happen!!
